When searching for a property, 70% of those who have looked for an apartment or house to rent or buy in the past have used the internet either partially or exclusively. This is the result of a survey conducted by Bitkom Research, a subsidiary of the German Digital Association. The company surveyed around 1,000 people aged 16 and over in Germany.<\/p>\n
Half of those surveyed (52 percent) search on major real estate portals. Around a quarter (24 percent) look at private listings on the Internet. One in six (16 percent) browse specialized real estate platforms. A tenth (11 percent) use social networks to search for properties. In addition to internet research, traditional methods are also used.<\/p>\n
For example, 41% of those surveyed search for suitable housing with the help of a real estate agent, 28% look for corresponding advertisements in newspapers, 18% enquire about housing with municipal housing associations and 13% with cooperatives.
