This is according to the study \"Energy management in retail compact: Update on key energy indicators 2021\" by the research and consulting institute EHI Retail Institute. This is due to better refrigeration technology and the use of LED lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Electricity consumption per square meter of retail space in this area fell from 318 to 314 kWh, resulting in a reduction of 1.3 percent. In recent years, electricity consumption here has fallen by almost 5 percent overall.<\/p>\n<p>In the non-food sectors, the figures need to be examined in particular due to the changes in opening hours and the various regulations in the individual federal states as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
