At the PCI Alpine Cup in Augsburg, 14 young tilers from 14 nations will be competing against each other from Thursday, July 7 to Friday, July 8. Philip Gro\u00dfkopf from Flensburg and Malte Laurich from Vreden will be competing for Germany. The two already won the PCI Alpine Cup last year and would now like to defend their titles.<\/p>\n
The two have already demonstrated their skills at the qualifying competition in Seebruck, Upper Bavaria. In this competition, the participants had to tile a shower with a convex, i.e. outwardly curved, side of the front wall within 22 hours. In addition to Philip Gro\u00dfkopf and Malte Laurich, Yannic Schlachter, who will be taking part in the WorldSkills competition in China in October, also demonstrated his skills.<\/p>\n
He had to relocate the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro as well as the Brazilian flag and the outline of the country. Team manager Andreas Beyer drew a positive conclusion after the qualification: \"For outsiders, there were no recognizable differences.\" Competitions such as the PCI Alpine Cup and WorldSkills serve to promote young talent and the profession. In Germany, the national tile team is supported by more than 20 partner companies of the Central Association of the German Construction Industry.<\/p>\n
