The Solar Decathlon Europe, according to the organizers the world's largest university competition for sustainable building and living, is being held in Germany for the first time. The event is also open to the general public: from Friday, June 10 to Sunday, June 26, visitors can find out more about sustainable building and living, architecture and climate protection at first hand with free admission.<\/p>\n
Among other things, 18 fully furnished, one- to two-storey house prototypes are on display, in which the students use environmentally friendly building materials such as straw and hemp, organic building materials such as mushrooms, solar cells and photovoltaics, modern ventilation and heating systems as well as green fa\u00e7ades and roof gardens. Visitors can also explore the world's first 3D-printed cellulose-based building.<\/p>\n
Each day of the Solar Decathlon Europe will focus on a different theme - from architecture and design, timber construction and craftsmanship to interior architecture and lighting design. Admission to the Solar Decathlon Europe is free. For organizational reasons, visitors require free tickets. These are available in advance on the event website or for individuals on site at the Alte Glaserei, Juliusstra\u00dfe 12, Wuppertal.<\/p>\n
