Over 1,500 energy-efficient refurbishment projects have been initiated to date through the KfW's urban energy refurbishment funding program. This was recently announced by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR). In a study, it examined how the funding program was implemented from 2018 to 2022 and found it to be successful.<\/p>\n
\"The future belongs to the integrated approach 'from the building to the neighborhood'. The energy-efficient urban refurbishment program helps to accelerate the energy and heat transition locally, create needs-based living space and improve the quality of life in the neighbourhood at the same time,\" says BBSR Director Markus Eltges.<\/p>\n
With KfW grants, municipalities can develop refurbishment concepts and commission a management team to drive implementation forward. In addition to energy-efficient building refurbishment and efficient supply systems, the program also promotes the expansion of renewable energies and neighbourhood-related measures.
